Calendar export

Study calendar generator for Apple Calendar

By the Reefwatch editorial team · Updated 31 August 2026 · 5 minute read

A calendar file is useful when you want study sessions to appear beside the rest of your life. My Study Plan exports iCalendar files, which are designed to work across common calendar apps.

Quick answer

Generate your plan, download the .ics calendar file and import it into Apple Calendar or another calendar app. Use the selected date range so the calendar does not fill with old study sessions.

Why .ics matters

The iCalendar format is widely used for calendar data. It lets a static website create a file that calendar apps can read without needing a paid calendar API.

Keep the export range sensible

Shorter exports are easier to review and replace. My Study Plan defaults to two weeks and limits very long non-recurring exports to keep files manageable.

Use recurring export carefully

When a weekly pattern makes sense, recurring export uses an iCalendar recurrence rule instead of duplicating months of events. That keeps the file lighter and easier for calendar apps to understand.

Check imported reminders

Different apps handle imported reminders and calendar settings differently. After importing, open the calendar app and check that times, dates and timezone look right.

Common questions

Does My Study Plan sync directly with Apple Calendar?

No. It creates an .ics file you can import. There is no account connection or live sync in the static MVP.

Can I use the same file for Google Calendar?

Yes. Google Calendar also supports importing .ics files.
